Dear Carlos,
As we look to Meridian’s 60th year, it feels natural to reflect on how our organization has been shaped by the thoughtful and innovative leaders who have served our board and our community. And for the last 6 years, Meridian has been so fortunate to grow and thrive under your dedicated leadership.
During your tenure as board chair, we have seen enormous growth in our programming, network and impact. As a trailblazer in both government and business, your expertise has been instrumental in advancing our ability to bring leaders together across industries, party lines, borders and cultures and accelerate collaboration on today’s most pressing issues. Your past accomplishments in expanding global trade and investment have brought a new perspective and meaning to our mission to strengthen U.S. engagement with the world.
As we aim to provide a neutral, nonpartisan space for collaboration, your commitment to bipartisanship has also bolstered our overall effectiveness. Ideas and innovation thrive under leaders with diverse backgrounds and vast experience in bringing different parties together, and we are immensely grateful for your guidance as Meridian continues to grow as a place for diplomacy, communication and partnership.
Meridian is more than our work, though. We are a family, and as a caring husband and father in your personal life, your leadership has reinforced the need for camaraderie and unity as our team continues to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities. I also know that board service is no easy undertaking, and we appreciate the time you may have had to take away from your real family to serve this one.
We would not have been able to accomplish in the last 6 years without your wise counsel and patient guidance. Your words of advice to me at the start of your time as board chair have been an unfailing source of inspiration and direction as we’ve developed new programs, expanded our partnerships and strengthened our mission. You have always been a gracious and thoughtful leader who has given time and commitment to Meridian to help us make the numbers, strengthen the team, build the brand, and innovate.
As you look back on your time with us, I hope you are reminded of the integral part you have played in Meridian’s rich history and legacy as a center for global leadership. Please know that our achievements would not have been possible without you at the helm and your tireless commitment to our mission.
On both a professional and personal level, I am so grateful for the time we spent together and look forward to our continued partnership and friendship. Wishing all the best to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Stuart Holliday, President and CEO of Meridian International Center, and the Meridian Board of Trustees
