Former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz with group leader, Mr. Luhao Min

On Sunday, July 7, 2013, Meridian welcomed a delegation of 15 Chinese Financial Regulators and Government Officials who are taking part in a three-week training and exchange program sponsored by Visa Corporation.  The participants represent a host of organizations including the People’s Bank of China, the Ministries of Finance and Commerce, the China Banking and Regulatory Commission, and the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs.  The program is designed to educate these Chinese government officials about the U.S. financial system and the institutions and regulations that govern it. The delegation will participate in an intensive week-long executive training program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business during their first part of the U.S. program, and then will spend a few days in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento to explore financial regulation and management at the state and local levels, and technological innovations in payment systems. The last part of the program will include a short visit to New York City, which includes a stop at the New York Stock Exchange. The participants will also visit Washington, DC to meet with senior representatives at numerous U.S. government agencies and international organizations including the Treasury Department, IMF, FDIS, the Fed, and FINRA to mention just a few.
